5 Ways to Stay Fit When you are Locked Down In Your House
Wed 31 03 2021

How long have you been living all your life from your house? The answer may change according to the country where our readers live, but what we are sure of is that it is a long period. Being at home means that there are many things that you are not able to do, one of them is workout properly. But how do you stay fit while locked inside your house? Here are 5 ways to stay fit when you are locked down in your house.

1. Home workouts

The first thing that comes to our mind when we talk about being active at home, is home workouts. You can create a workout plan with the help of your previous coach, or use an app like StepChain that will help you create a plan based on your preferences and needs. Even if you need equipment, you can find yourself some items from around the house that you can use and take advantage of.

2. Do housework

You might find yourself nagging when you are asked to do housework, and that is because it requires movements and being active. For this reason, use housework as a way to be active and burn some calories. Not only do you have to move around the house to clean it and tidy it, but you have to do lots of movements with your hands, legs, back, etc. that will move all the parts of your body. With time housework could feel easier because your body got used to its required movements.

3. Schedule runs around the house

If you are working or studying at home, make sure you take a break of 10 minutes every 40 minutes to one hour to move around the house and be active. You can walk everywhere, putting a number of steps to achieve in your mind (use StepChain to help you with that), or take the nearest stairs up and down twice or more. It is important that you also drink some water to stay hydrated and healthy. Try to increase the intensity of your activity during your brings, or add some exercises and moves such as squats, lunges, or even a one-minute plank, because why not!

4. Stretch

Stretching is important to remind your muscles that have been frozen for some time now that they are still alive. You can do some moves on your chair, or better, stand up and stretch your back, legs, and arms. You can also do a 5 to 10 minutes full-body stretch that can be very helpful for your body after being on a chair for hours. Stretch at least once a day.

5. Use the stairs even if you don’t want to leave the house or the building

If you don’t live in a building, then you could be living in a private house with a garden or even a small space outside where you can walk or being active for few minutes. However, if you live in a building, you can take the stairs down and up for few times, going from one floor to the other and back. You can take advantage of that exercise to say high (while keeping a safe distance) to your neighbor.
