Wed 31 03 2021

Working out is a recommended remedy for your body and your mind. It has many benefits for both, as it can make you healthier and happier. To understand how your body is affected by being active, it is important to understand the changes it goes through with time. In the following article, we will study 5 things that happen to your body when you commit to working out.

1. You feel sore

Feeling sore means that your muscles were working and moving. You will feel very sore when you work out after a long time. Exercising causes small tears in your muscles that the body works on rebuilding and repairing later on and this is how your muscles grow. At first, it will be very painful, but make sure that you keep on training so that the pain lessens or goes away. Therefore, if your first day at the gym is very painful, do not give up as training more will help you get rid of the pain and commit to an active future.

2. You have more energy

When you are working out, you are expending energy. However, exercise can help you feel more energized overall. Exercising will give your endurance a boost and improve your muscle strength. This helps more oxygen and nutrients flow to your tissues, pushing the cardiovascular system to work better. So when your lungs and heart’s health are improving your body will have more energy to do daily activities and tasks.

3. You build up muscles

As we mentioned before, working out results in some tears in your muscles, which your body works on repairing and rebuilding leading your muscles to grow by building stronger connective tissue. Exercising also leads to an increase in the diameter of the muscle fibers. Some exercises such as weight training can increase the muscle mass called muscle hypertrophy.

4. Your brain chemistry changes

Your brain chemistry has a huge effect on every aspect of your life from your cognitive abilities to your emotions. Exercising has lots of effects on your brain’s chemistry. It helps your brain release serotonin which is linked to feeling good and happy, and it lowers your risks of depression. It can also release compounds that could help your brain form better neuronal connections. These are not the only chemical changes that result from working out. Exercising can help you prevent lots of mental health disorders like depression or anxiety. But if you do suffer from any, you must consult with a psychologist alongside working out.

5. Your hormones are affected

An effective workout will get some hormones to float around your body. Most of these hormones are responsible for making you feel good. According to research, some hormones that are released due to being active can affect your metabolism. Women could have an increase in testosterone which builds their muscles. The type of workout you choose is essential in letting certain hormones float.
