Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle: to Work Out or to Diet?
Wed 16 06 2021

Many people work out very hard so they can eat all the food they crave. Or eat as healthy as possible so they do not have to work out. However, are these self-claimed theories right? Today’s society is not as healthy as it used to be. In the past, we used to plant our own foods and we were much more active, doing chores around the house and outside. Today, we are consumed by our life that we end up choosing one of the two options: workout or diet. To better understand what option to choose to maintain a healthy lifestyle, read this article.

Exercising:

Exercising is a good way to build more muscles and improve your body’s shape. It can help you burn lots of calories that you have consumed during your day. In fact, 30 minutes of working out can help you burn 1 snack. Also, exercise is helpful because the muscles that you build help burn even more fat, and take less space in your body. Therefore, you will become not only slimmer and in better shape, but also stronger. However, to get such results you do not have to go to the gym for long hours daily. According to research, committing to short sessions of 10 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise 2 or three times per day can have similar health benefits. Add variety to your routine to help motivate you and give you results faster.

A good routine will include cardio to boost your heart’s health, resistance training to build your strength, functional training to create balance in your body, and stretching to give you flexibility. However, do not make these 30 minutes per day your only active time, as the time you spend doing nothing also affects your lifestyle. Make sure you avoid the sedentary lifestyle by moving whenever you have the possibility throughout the day.

Exercising is not only a good way to lose weight, but it will help you fight against certain diseases especially chronic ones such as cancer, diabetes, and heart diseases.

Nutrition and diet

Nutrition on the other hand is all about what comes inside our bodies and can have numerous benefits or make damages to it. Eating well can also benefit your health by decreasing your chances of having a chronic disease, it can help you control your weight, manage your stress, and improve your brain’s health. In fact, nutrition and exercising have similar health benefits which makes them great when combined.

To lose weight, you need to eat some foods and restrict or limit others. For example, calories that come from sugar promote hunger and fat storage. Therefore if you want to lose weight it is better that you limit your sugar intake. A Mediterranean diet is the one that is mostly recommended because it promotes good health and is rich in helping you maintain a good weight and stay healthy. It contains lots of plant resources, low- and non-fat dairy, bread, poultry, fish, seeds, nuts, olive oil, and other healthy ingredients.

So as a conclusion, diet and workout are both the only answer for a healthy lifestyle, and they work hand in hand to keep you in good shape.
