It is very common to get an injury just because you are not wearing the right shoes, and this can sabotage your fitness goals. You must invest in a good quality pair of shoes to help you prevent damage linked to your ankles or feet. Therefore you must understand the importance of wearing proper shoes when working out.

There is a variety of sports shoes in the market and each one is made for a different sport. Each one has different characteristics suitable for the sport you do. Therefore, make sure that you chose the right pair for the sports you practice.

Choosing a shoe

It is important that you chose the type of shoe that suits your activity type and level. You need the comfort of a shoe to be able to practice your exercises well and boost your performance. It is recommended that you try the shoes in the evening or the afternoon, or after completing a workout since your feet are considered to be largest during these times. Try them on with sports socks to make sure they will fit you well during your training. Your big toe should be half an inch away from the tip of the shoe. Finally, bend the shoe to check that it has the needed flexibility and support for your feet.

How to find the right pair of shoes

1. Try the new pair around the end of the day

Throughout the day your feet can expand up to one size. Therefore, go shopping for a pair of the shoe when your feet are at their largest size, or after a workout.

2. Put on your gym socks when trying a new pair

 Since you wear gym socks while training, you must try your new training shoes wearing the same socks you’d wear with them. Finally do no try it to see if it fits your feet only, but lace it up and walk in it as if you are at the gym.

3. Try on both shoes

Your feet are not equal and could have different thicknesses, widths, sizes and shapes. Some people could even have two different sizes for each foot. Therefore you must try both shoes and make sure that both feet are comfortable in them.
