Wed 04 11 2020

Shoes are considered the most important item in your clothing especially when it comes to sport. However, your shoes are the one that is most probable to become torn or unfit to be used again. When this happens you should change them so that your physical activity is not affected negatively. In this article, we will talk about the signs that indicate that you need to change your sports shoes.

1. You’ve used them too much

Every pair of shoes has a specific number of miles that it can achieve. It is important that you keep track of how long you have owned your pair of shoes therefore, try to keep a record of the day when you’ve bought it. On the other hand, the quality of the floor you walk on can contribute to making your shoes live longer. If you only use it inside the gym or on a treadmill it will be able to live longer than if you run of roads of rocks.

2. You feel pain when you are wearing it

You know that it is time to change your shoes when you are feeling pain in your joints and fatigue in your feet or knees. This happens because the shoes start losing their cushioning. Usually, if you will feel the pain in both of your legs not only on one side, it means that now is the time to change your shoes. In case you feel such pain and your shoes are new, you might need a better quality pair of shoes for your feet.

3. Your shoes have poor shock absorption

Having poor shock absorption means that you can feel the effect of every step you make, not only on your feet but also your knees and hips. Sports that require using your feet, or ones that add more pressure on them such as running require better shock absorption as your tendons, ligaments, bones, and muscles are prone to more strain, and these shoes can minimize them.

4. Your treads are worn out

If the treads of your shoes, especially the ones on the sole, are worn out, then now is the time to get a new pair of shoes. Usually, the sole lasts a longer time than the shock absorbency and the cushioning of the shoes, therefore if the first is worn down, this means that your pair is old. Avoid running and practicing your sports in the worn-out sole to minimize injuries. On a brighter note, you can use them for gardening tasks or ones where you would like to avoid wearing the shoes you love.

5. You can feel the difference with new shoes

It is important to feel comfortable when running, therefore if your shoes do not make you comfortable anymore, then now is the time to change them. Comfort is important to allow you to maintain good movement and form when training, which minimizes injuries. Always ask yourself after your training session, whether you felt comfortable or irritated due to your pair of shoes. Your answer van tells you if it is time to shop or not.
