It is rich in Vitamin C as well as potassium, which makes it a good source of nutrients for you. You can add veggies in it or other appropriate ingredients. This is our favorite recipe:

Ingredients

  • 16 butter lettuce leaves
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger
  • 1 can, drained and finely chopped, water chestnuts
  • 1 bunch, chopped, green onions

Start by rinsing the lettuce leaves and patting them to dry without tearing them.

Put them aside and start cooking the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir them in cooking oil until they become brown and crumbly. Remove the excess grease, and put them in a bowl.

In the same skillet cook and stir the onion until they become slightly tender. Add the hoisin sauce, soy, ginger, vinegar, and garlic. Then put the green onions, the water chestnuts, the sesame oil, and the cooked beef and cook the mixture for about 2 minutes.

Finally, lay open the lettuce leaves on a plate and put the mixture of the meat in the center.
