Overeating sometimes feels like the monster you cannot run away from. It keeps haunting your mind until you give up and find yourself in the kitchen gazing at your fridge. While many things can be helpful, such as keeping busy and avoiding distractions, there are some snacks that can fill you up enough. These snacks might keep you away from craving food when your body does not need it. So why not give them a try? The following is a list of 8 snacks that will help you avoid overeating.

1. Sliced mango with chili powder

This might not be a combination you’ve heard of before, however, the sweetness of the first and the spiciness of the second make a great tasting combination. In fact, spicy foods can give your metabolism a slight boost for a period of time.

2. Peanut butter and banana

This is a classic combination that will keep you feeling full. The bananas are rich in fiber and contain around 100 calories each. If you add a tablespoon of peanut butter not only you’ll be adding an amazing taste but also 90 calories of healthy fats. Do not add more peanut butter than you should, as it is easy to consume hundreds of calories without realizing it. Not convinced yet? This snack was Elvis Presley’s favorite!

3. Popcorn

We are not talking about the popcorn you consume at the movies. Make your popcorn at home, without adding toppings that are unhealthy and packed with calories. 3 cups of homemade popcorn can contain up to 93 calories and up to 1 gram of fat, as well as several grams of fiber to keep you feeling full for long. In case you needed to add a topping, drizzle the seeds with olives oil and some herbs for a twist.

4. Nuts

Nuts are a good snack to stay full for hours. The recommended nuts that could make a healthy snack are almonds, walnuts, and Brazil nuts. In fact, the latter contains lots of selenium which can keep your metabolism healthy. On the other hand, walnuts are packed with polyunsaturated fats helping you reduce the fat in the belly area.

5. A hardboiled egg

One hard-boiled egg is a great snack, low in calories, and perfect in keeping you feeling satisfied. It contains around 70 calories and 6 grams of proteins.

6. Hummus and carrot

This snack is becoming more and more popular. If you love dips, but do not want to gain weight, then hummus is your only solution. It is made of chickpeas which are rich in protein, and this snack has 30 calories per tablespoon, and fibers (carrots sticks).
