How did the fitness industry change with COVID-19?
Wed 12 08 2020

COVID-19 appeared out of nowhere and changed all our lives. Different sectors have been affected by it and there are predictions that some industries may never be the same again. The fitness industry is one of the industries affected by the virus. During lockdown, many ways were used to keep people active and moving even when the gyms and fitness centers were closed. A lot of things have changed during the lockdown when it comes to fitness. The following article talks about some of them.

1. Online classes became popular

Being in a lockdown away from your daily activities can give you a lot of time to think and set your priorities. Many people added working out to their list of priorities, or gave it more time than before. People who were enrolled in a gym before the quarantine had access to some online classes led by their coaches. Others were able to follow programs found online that are similar to what they used to practice before.

2. The equipment was selling out

Many stores and brands that sell sports equipment have reported that an important number of gym equipment that is good for personal use, has been selling out. People are buying their own tools to create their home gym and workout like there is no lockdown.

3. Group home workouts became a thing

If you and your friends are gathered in one place and would like to have a workout session together, you have the option of contacting your coach, or a personal trainer to come to assess you with your home workout. Many people have used this technique, especially in areas where it is safe to go out for visits.

4. More people are becoming physically active

As we mentioned before, during lockdown people had more time to think of their life aims. Many chose to be healthy and active. The number of people who started working out during the lockdown period increased. People were afraid that their bodies were weak and unhealthy which made them prone to catching the virus.

5. Exercises are found online more than ever

Because people were ready to take on the available workout plans, more effort has been put to create content that suits them. Online subscriptions have increased more than ever, and many blogs, fitness apps, and brands have been creating workout content to help their followers become more active. This could have been one reason that made quarantined people seek working out even when they couldn’t leave their houses.

6. Bond between fitness and social media is growing bigger

Scrolling down on your Facebook feeds, and watching Instagram stories, you will stumble upon many of the people you follow who are working out at home. Also, brands have used social media in order to attract people and inspire them to be even more active. Short videos of workout routines are posted on these platforms to show users that working out has never been easier and simpler.

What about you? Have you been working out at home?
