Low Impact Interval Training: Build Strength and Endurance while protecting yourself from Injury
Wed 04 08 2021

While exercising, we always aim for significant results, so we go for intense exercises. We always have this idea in mind; the more intense the exercise is, the better the outcome. But as a result of these high-impact exercises, we are always at risk of getting injured. Many are aware of that information, so they move to less risky practices and give them the same good results that high-impact exercises can offer. These exercises are referred to as "Low impact interval training." Low impact interval training is an excellent choice if you want to work on your strength without extra stressing your tendons and joints and getting yourself repeatedly injured. This article will introduce low impact interval training, the benefits of practicing it, and list some exercises you can do as a beginner.

Firstly, what is low impact interval training? This is a term that refers to exercises that are easy and gentle on your body, especially on the joints and tendons. You can easily distinguish a low-impact exercise because there is no such thing as jumping around, hopping, or running in these exercises. They include activities done with at least one foot always remaining on the ground, so, as we mentioned before, no jumping. Low impact exercises are most needed or chosen by people suffering from tendons or joints issues and recently recovering from an injury.

Secondly, what are the benefits of low-impact interval training? As we hear the words "low impact," it comes to mind that it isn't as effective and beneficial as high impact interval training. But the truth is that it is the complete opposite of what we think. Because this type of exercising gives the same high impact benefits, the only difference is that you have to do your practicing more time than the high impact interval training.  There are a lot of benefits which it can give, so let's start. We mentioned it before and we'll do it again, it's easy on the joints so it doesn't cause problems in the knees, hips and shins, unlike the high impact exercises. Thus, the risk of injuries will decrease, and you will be able to build a regular training routine and it will be consistent. It also improves your cardiovascular endurance, and helps you in developing some kinesthetic awareness, which is being aware of your body movements and positions. There are many more benefits like reducing the risk of diseases, improving bone density, increasing brain function, relieving stress, and boosting wellbeing.

Thirdly, we will give you some exercises for beginners, which will be easy on your body and joints, and will challenge you in the same time. These exercises include some moves that will hit every part of your body so you can have a full body workout:

  • Dumbbell chest
  • Dumbbell front raise
  • Sumo squat

To sum up, low impact interval training is a great way to achieve your goals without getting injured and with the same benefits of high impact interval training. So if you want to stay injury-free and achieve your body goal, you know what to go for.
