The holidays are nearly here, and all you can think of is the amount of tasty food you would be consuming, the days off, and the time spent with friends and family. While all of these thoughts are amazing, one worry might be looping in the back of your mind; what will happen to a fit body after this holiday? Whether you follow a fitness routine or not, the holidays do not have to make you the opposite of fit. In this article, we will talk about ways to stay fit during the holidays.

1. Stay active

Being on a holiday could mean staying away from the gym. If that is so, this doesn’t mean that you cannot be active as well. Make sure that you do not spend your holidays on the couch watching movies, instead, help your family around with cooking, decorating, or even supermarket shopping. Take walks around your neighborhood, and do not miss a chance to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Find ways in which you burn the extra calories you will be consuming during this week. Having a plan helps you know what you will do next without wasting time, but instead achieving more. Include in your plan your time “of being active”, your meal times, and everything you have planned for the day. This way, you will avoid skipping any important task you have planned for the day, and you will be able to be the healthiest version of yourself on holidays.

3. Take a break

Holidays are all about breaks, and this could also mean taking a break from everything you usually do when you are not on holiday. It’s ok to skip the gym for the whole week, but make sure you compensate for it by being more active and by eating well (no overeating or drinking).

4. Track your physical activity and food consumption

This tip is complimentary to everything we’ve already mentioned. During holidays you will be confronted with lots of tasty food, and you do not have to feel guilty for enjoying it. Also, you could be tempted to give up being active for the whole period. For this reason, you must keep track of everything you do that affects your fitness life.
