5 tips to get motivated to work out when it is cold outside
Mon 23 11 2020

When winter comes, a lot of people stop working out, or workout much less. This is because they do not feel motivated to put on extra clothes and go out in the cold weather. However, cold should not be an excuse for missing out on workouts. So what should you do? The following are 5 tips that will get you motivated to work out when it is cold outside.

1. Keep yourself warm

When the temperature is low outside all you want is to stay warm. However, in sports, staying warm means also making your muscles warm enough to be ready for their workout. So during cold days, you need to pay extra attention to this point. Make sure that you extend your warm out time before starting your actual workout. Do many reps of the same stretch until you are ready to work out.

2. Figure out what time of the day is the best for you

If you love working out in the morning but know that mornings are the coldest during winter, then try to find another time during the day that is warmer and where you feel energized to work out. Always keep everything you need, for the workout and for the time after the workout, ready. If you are working out in the morning prepare your things the night before. If you are working out before your lunchtime, make sure you pack your lunch so it is ready to eat after your workout.

3. Use ‘motivators’

Working out needs some motivation, especially at the beginning. Therefore, look for the ones that suit you best and incorporate them into your workout. You can work out with a friend that you love and who motivates you to do more sets or finish your workout plan for the day. You can also create a playlist that has the best tracks that will get your heart pumping. No matter what is the motivator you pick, make sure that it makes you happy doing what you are doing.

4. Workout at home

If it is cold outside, and you prefer staying in, you can. However, do not sit on the couch and slouch. Instead, make sure you do some exercises that will keep your body active. You do not have to buy gym equipment to do so but instead, look around for some alternatives that you can find in your home. For dumbbells substitutes, you can use water bottles, etc. Also, you can repeat the workout you usually do at the gym or find yourself a nice home workout online.

5. Think of the results you will get for not skipping this workout

Sometimes skipping a workout and sitting on a warm couch watching TV could be your favorite thing to do. But instead what you should do, is think of something that would make you want to work out. One of these things could be the end result that you might experience if you decide not to skip your workout.
